London Southend Airport set to soar into another sky-high summer

New routes. New faces. A brand-new summer season on the horizon. Activity is ramping up at London Southend Airport as the UK’s fastest-growing airport in 2025 gets ready for another sun-soaked, high-flying summer season.

With demand climbing, the airport has welcomed around 50 new team members across its operations, security, air traffic control, and food and beverage departments – ensuring everything runs like clockwork as an influx of passengers jet off from the end of the month.

Airport CEO, Jude Winstanley, confirms the award-winning airport is ‘ready for summer.’

He said: “All of our additional staff have been recruited and trained already, so we’re good to go.”

This year the airport is offering a network that boasts 26 destinations, the most it’s had since 2019. Next week easyJet will commence twice-weekly flights to Jersey (30 March), followed by a service to Ibiza taking off on 29 April – just in time for peak summer escapes!

Looking ahead, Munich will be added to the departures board in autumn, perfectly timed for Oktoberfest, while popular routes to Barcelona and Berlin – which started last winter – continue into the summer season, alongside extended services to Geneva.

Winstanley added: “With 26 destinations to choose from this year – covering beach breaks, city escapes, lakes and mountains, ski trips, Christmas markets and even magical visits to Santa in Lapland – we truly have a holiday for everyone here at London Southend.”
