For something a little different, head to RAW Gelände in Friedrichshain for a Christmas market with a distinctly medieval twist.
Set within the former railway complex, the Historic Christmas Market swaps polished festive glamour for torchlight, fire pits and traditional craftsmanship. You can watch potters, blacksmiths and woodcarvers at work, browse handmade gifts, and warm up with hot mead, Glühwein, Glühbier or Feuerzangenbowle.
Entertainment adds to the old-world atmosphere, with historical music, jugglers, acrobats and fire shows throughout the season. There are also traditional wooden rides, including a hand-operated carousel and Ferris wheel, making it a good option for families as well as anyone looking for a more unusual Berlin Christmas market.
If you want festive Berlin with a bit more character and less convention, RAW Gelände is well worth adding to your itinerary.
Berliner Weihnachtszeit at Rotes Rathaus – Nostalgia, Ice Skating and Festive Fun

It’s perfect for families, couples, and anyone who wants their Christmas with a side of nostalgia.
Old-school East German touches give this market a retro flair – there’s even a small petting zoo with reindeer and sheep. And the best part? Santa flies through the air (yes, really) on a sleigh suspended above the square three times a day.
