  • New city connection offers Essex, East London and East Anglia passengers an easy, speedy, friendly gateway to Germany’s capital of cool
  • Operating twice a week on Mondays and Fridays with easyJet

London Southend Airport is celebrating another major milestone today as easyJet’s inaugural flight to Berlin takes off, opening a direct link between Essex and Germany’s vibrant capital.

Operating twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays, the new service is perfectly timed for long weekend getaways, whether travellers are chasing a last-minute Christmas market escape or exploring Berlin’s world-class art, nightlife and culture. From the Brandenburg Gate to buzzing nightlife and shows like Cirque du Soleil ALIZE, the iconic city combines history, creativity and adventure in equal measure.

Passengers from Essex, London and East Anglia can now reach the heart of Berlin faster than ever before, thanks to London Southend Airport’s on-site train station – 43 minutes from Stratford Station/52 minutes from London Liverpool Street – and the airport’s commitment to making every journey easy, speedy and friendly.

Nigel Mayes, Business Development Director at London Southend Airport, said: “We’re thrilled to see our first easyJet flight to Berlin depart today, connecting our region directly to one of Europe’s most dynamic cities. Whether it’s for the famous Christmas markets, a weekend of sightseeing or to experience German culture and creativity, Berlin has something for everyone.”

The addition of Berlin strengthens London Southend Airport’s expanding partnership with easyJet, providing even more choice for travellers seeking short-haul European adventures with a stress-free airport experience.

It comes a day after the airport saw a return of flights to Barcelona for the first time in five years, and mere weeks before a brand-new service to Rovaniemi on December 1, and ski routes to Grenoble and Salzburg from December 6 and 14 respectively.
