Southend United and London Southend Airport extend partnership agreement
The Blues are delighted to confirm that its partnership with London Southend Airport has been extended for the 2024/25 season.
Initially agreeing a ‘Good Neighbour’ agreement in August 2023, the partnership has now been extended to cover further initiatives and branding benefits.
Blues’ messaging will continue to be seen by more than 500,000 arriving and departing passengers in the airport’s Arrivals Hall as passenger numbers increase for 2025, and will now also feature in the business’ online marketing. Likewise, London Southend will continue to feature prominently at Roots Hall Stadium.
The airport, located just 52 minutes from Central London by train, recently announced a return of a three-aircraft base with airline partner easyJet, and will now serve more than 14 holiday destinations next summer, including Antalya and Dalaman in Turkey, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Pisa, Marrakech and more.
Marc Taylor, acting CEO at London Southend Airport, said: “London Southend and Southend United have both been on a positive momentum journey in recent weeks, driving growth and success together with support from the local community and beyond.
“As two long-standing pillars in Southend, we hope to build on this relationship and the dynamic spirit and connectivity that defines our region.”
Rylee Doe, Commercial Executive at Southend United, added: “We’re pleased to continue our positive relationship working with London Southend Airport.
“After a strong first season, including our Match for Mind and numerous charitable initiatives in collaboration with the airport, we’re looking forward to continuing our joint growth patterns for the good of our local community.”
It comes after the takeover of Southend United FC, led by Australian businessman Justin Rees as part of the Custodians of Southend United, was completed.
