Where to stay in Jersey this summer

Your guide to the island’s best-value accommodation

Jersey

A few things you should know about Jersey right off the bat. First, it’s fantastic! A sunny escape right on our doorsteps that’s perfect for a summer getaway – what’s not to love? But you can read all about that in our Ultimate Guide to Jersey.

Second, it’s small – just ten by five miles in size. That’s great if you want to see everything Jersey has to offer in a short trip, but it also means you need to know where you want to stay well in advance to get the perfect experience – and when to book to make sure you get the best deals before anyone else.

In this guide we’re going to cover some of the best places to stay in Jersey, what you get when you stay there, some budget-friendly alternatives, and when you should book for your Summer 2026 holiday to beat the rush.

Book your flight from London Southend Airport to Jersey.

Booking guidance is based on typical summer demand. For major events and school holidays, booking earlier is always recommended.

St Helier

St Helier is Jersey’s small but energetic capital – and the best choice if you like being right in the heart of the action. It’s walkable, lively and packed with useful amenities, from cafés and markets to restaurants that suit every budget. St Helier offers more accommodation choices than anywhere else on the island, including affordable hotels, guesthouses and apartments. It is perfect if you want a convenient base with great transport links for exploring the island.

Why stay here

St Helier is the centre of the island’s major summer events, including the Barclays Jersey Boat Show in May, the Jersey International Motoring Festival in June and the Battle of Flowers in August. If you want easy access to the action, this is the most practical place to stay.

Things you should know

  • Hotels book up quickly for major event weekends
  • It is the busiest area on the island, with more noise and nightlife than the bays
  • St Aubin’s Bay is walking distance, but St Helier itself is not a traditional beach resort

When to book

St Helier has the most accommodation on the island. It stays available for longer than the bays, but summer still fills up fast. Book three to four months ahead for May and June, and four to six months ahead for July and August, especially if you are visiting during the Jersey International Motoring Festival or the Battle of Flowers. September stays can usually be secured two to three months in advance.

St.Aubin Bay, Jersey

St Aubin

St Aubin is one of those places that feels like you’ve stepped right into a postcard. The harbour sparkles at high tide, the hillside homes give it a painterly look and the dining scene is excellent without being flashy. It’s a brilliant choice if you want the charm of a coastal village with better prices than the big beaches. The promenade running straight to St Helier makes it perfect for slow morning walks, evening cycles and relaxed days by the water.

Why stay here

St Aubin suits travellers who want a peaceful base but still want straightforward access to St Helier for summer events and days out. It strikes a lovely balance between scenery and convenience.

Things you should know

  • Most properties are small, so summer availability can disappear quickly
  • The village climbs up the hillside, so expect gentle uphill walking in places
  • Evenings tend to be more calm, with less late-night dining than in St Helier

When to book

St Aubin’s small hotels and guesthouses mean availability drops quickly once summer approaches. Book around three months ahead for May, four months for June, and five to six months for July. For August, aim for six to eight months in advance, as the harbour view rooms and boutique spots go early. September is a little easier, but still best booked three to four months ahead.

La Corbiere Lighthhouse, Jersey

St Brelade’s Bay

St Brelade’s Bay is the island’s picturesque showstopper. If your idea of summer is swimming before breakfast, lounging on soft sand and wandering barefoot to beachfront cafés, this is where you want to be. The bay feels warm, bright and effortlessly holiday-ready, with clear water and a long promenade that makes every day feel like a beach day.

Why stay here

St Brelade’s is ideal for classic beach holidays. It is great for families, couples and anyone who wants to spend most of their time by the sea, with the added bonus of easy 30-minute bus rides into St Helier for summer events.

Things you should know

  • It is one of the most expensive places to stay on Jersey
  • Beachfront rooms often book out six to nine months ahead
  • Dining options are fewer and usually more expensive than in St Helier

When to book

This is Jersey’s most in-demand beach area, and it fills up earlier than anywhere else. Book three to four months ahead for May, four to five months for June, and six to eight months ahead for July. For peak August, especially beachfront hotels, aim for eight to ten months in advance. September offers slightly more breathing room but still benefits from three to four months’ planning.

Mont Orgueil Castle and Gorey Harbour

Gorey and the East Coast

Gorey is a beautiful harbourside village with castle views that feel straight out of a storybook. It is quieter than the south-west coast and perfect for travellers who enjoy scenic mornings, slow meals and a more local feel. The waterfront restaurants are a highlight, and the views of Mont Orgueil Castle make this one of the most striking places to stay on the island.

Why stay here

Gorey is a lovely base for couples and anyone who wants a peaceful stay with good access to St Helier for festivals and events. It offers a gentler pace and a distinctive coastal backdrop.

Things you should know

  • Evening buses are less frequent, so plan ahead if you want late nights in town
  • Accommodation is limited and can sell out early in summer
  • Nightlife is minimal, with a focus on relaxed dining

When to book

Gorey has fewer hotels than the south coast, so availability is tight in peak season. Book about three months ahead for May, four months for June, and five to six months for July. For August, especially weekends or castle-view rooms, book six to eight months in advance. September stays usually need three months’ notice.

North Coast cliff paths near Bonne Nuit Bay

North Coast and Countryside

The north coast of Jersey and the island’s inland parishes offer a completely different experience. Think rugged cliffs, quiet valleys, hidden coves and winding green lanes. It is peaceful, incredibly scenic and packed with walking opportunities. Accommodation in this area tends to offer strong value, from simple cottages to friendly guesthouses that feel wonderfully cut off.

Why stay here

If you love walking, wildlife, sea views and slow travel, this is one of the best areas to stay on Jersey. It is a great choice for travellers who want to enjoy events in St Helier but retreat somewhere calm at the end of the day.

Things you should know

  • Public transport is limited, so a car or bikes are helpful
  • Nightlife is almost non-existent, which may suit some travellers perfectly
  • Dining options are few, usually small pubs or local cafés

When to book

Rural Jersey offers strong value, but guesthouses and cottages still fill up for summer. Book two to three months ahead for May, three to four months for June, and four to five months for July. For August, a quieter countryside stay still needs five to six months of planning. September is easier and generally fine with two to three months’ notice.

Budget-friendly options

These stays offer excellent value during Jersey’s busy summer months.

  • Durrell Wildlife Hostel: Simple rooms inside Durrell Wildlife Park, ideal for families and solo travellers looking for some of the lowest-cost accommodation on the island. The island’s most budget-friendly beds go quickly in school holidays. Book two to three months ahead for May and June, four to five months ahead for July and August, and two months ahead for September.
  • Camping and glamping: Rozel Camping Park and Beuvelande Campsite offer affordable summer stays with great facilities and a relaxed outdoor feel. For serviced pitches and glamping pods, book three to four months ahead for May and June, and four to six months ahead for July and August. September is usually available two months ahead.
  • Self-catering lodges: Lodges at Les Ormes and similar resorts offer great value for families and groups who want space and the flexibility to cook. These are very popular with families who return every year. Book three months ahead for May and June, six months ahead for July and August, and three months ahead for September.

The good news is, you’ve got an edge! Flights from London Southend Airport every Monday and Thursday from March 30th, 2026, so it’s never been easier to make your Jersey getaway.
