Express Lane for Pick-up and Drop-off

The faster, easier way to pick up and drop off at London Southend Airport

We are introducing a brand new Express Lane for Pick-up and Drop-off at London Southend Airport, designed to make picking up and dropping off passengers quicker, easier and more efficient.

Set to open from March 1, 2026, the Express Lane will be a dedicated, clearly signposted area located adjacent to the Short Stay car park, directly opposite the terminal. It replaces the front section of the existing Short Stay area and has been designed to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and create a smoother experience for drivers and passengers alike.

Drivers will be able to stop for up to 10 minutes, with no entry or exit barriers and no tickets needed. A charge of £8 applies, which must be paid online after exiting the Express Lane for Pick-up and Drop-off.

What is the Express Lane?

The Express Lane for Pick-up and Drop-off is a brand new facility designed to make picking up and dropping off passengers quicker and easier, with direct access opposite the terminal.

Where is the Express Lane located?

The Express Lane is located adjacent to the Short Stay car park, directly opposite the terminal building. Clear signage will guide drivers on arrival.

How will the Express Lane for Pick-up and Drop-off work?

Drivers follow signs into the Express Lane, pull into a marked parking bay to pick up or drop off passengers, then leave the area. There are no entry or exit barriers and no parking tickets. Drivers must pay online after exiting.

When will the Express Lane open?

The Pick-Up and Drop-Off Express Lane is set to open from 1 March 2026.

How much will I have to pay to use the Express Lane?

Once opened, the charge to use the Express Lane for Pick-up and Drop-off will be £8 per visit.

Will I be able to use the Express Lane for both pick up and drop off?

Yes, the Express Lane is designed for both picking up and dropping off passengers close to the terminal.

Do I have to take a ticket to enter the Express Lane?

No. The Express Lane is barrierless, so you do not need to take a ticket to enter.

How will I pay to use the Express Lane?

Drivers must pay online after using the Express Lane. Payment must be made within 24 hours of exit. Payment will be made via a dedicated online payment platform.

What happens if I am in the Express Lane for more than ten minutes?

If you remain in the Express Lane for longer than 10 minutes, a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) will be issued. We’d recommend parking in the Short Stay car park instead.

What happens if I forget to pay for using the Express Lane?

If payment is not made within 24 hours of using the Express Lane, a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) will be issued.

What is the difference between the Express Lane and Short Stay?

The Express Lane is designed for quick pick up and drop off only, with a maximum stay of 10 minutes. The Short Stay car park is better suited if you need more time at the terminal.
