London Southend announced as new Essex Cricket partner for 2024
While the agreement will see branding appear across Club channels, its focus is on the activities of Essex Cricket in the community; most notably, with the London Southend supporting several primary school competitions.
Furthermore, the grounds on which the competitions and school festivals will be held will be renamed to feature London Southend Airport destinations.
The airport, which is located just 52 minutes from central London by train (or 43 minutes from Stratford Station) will offer flights to more than ten destinations across countries in Europe in 2024.
CEO London Southend Airport John Upton said: “This new partnership aligns perfectly with our commitment to community engagement and skill development. London Southend employs more than 80% of its workforce locally, with opportunities available for further training and career progression. By fostering grassroots cricket, we’re extending this idea onto the sports field and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the lives of young children in the wider county.”
Daryl Townson, Commercial Manager at Essex Cricket, added: “It’s a real pleasure to welcome London Southend Airport to the Essex Cricket family.
“While they already offer several family-friendly destinations, the support of our primary competitions this year shows their commitment to helping pupils enjoy their summer holidays in multiple ways!
“We look forward to working with them, and we are hugely excited about the possibilities that could grow from their support for cricket-loving children.”
