Car parking

1. Introduction

1.1 You can purchase car parking at the airport in advance by pre-booking via our website or you can simply arrive at the airport without booking in advance and take a ticket when entering one of our car parks (known as “turn up and pay”).

1.2 In return for your payment to us, we will provide you with a car parking space in the car park you chose at the time of booking (in the case of pre-booking) or on arrival (in the case of turn up and pay).

1.3 These terms apply to all users of our car parks. Section 2 of these terms only applies to users of our car parks who have pre-booked parking. Section 3 of these terms only applies to users of our car parks who arrive without having made a pre-booking.

2. Definitions

2.1 When you pre-book car parking via our website you will be given a unique booking reference number.

2.2 The booking you make is non-transferable either from you to someone else, from one cat to another, or between different car parks.

2.3 The booking you make is valid only for the times, dates, price, car, and car park specified in your booking. The booking only permits you to make one entry and one exit per booking. It does not allow you to make multiple entries and exits during the period of your booking – once you exit the car park, your booking period comes to an end (even if this was earlier than the original period booked) and if you re-enter the car park then you will be charged the turn-up and pay rate for the remainder of your parking period.

2.4 Your booking does not entitle you, unless otherwise specified, to park in a specific space in the car park or to priority over other customers.

2.5 When pre-booked, parking is priced per 24 hour period. Prices are subject to change and the price you pay for the booked period is the price quoted at the time of booking.

2.6 If you arrive more than 4 hours before your booked arrival time and/or leave more than 4 hours after your booked departure time then you will be charged at the turn up and pay rate applicable at that time for the additional period(s) (which may be different to the rate for your booked period). If you exit the car park before your booked exit time, then no refund will be given for the unused booking period.

2.7 If you park in a different car park to the one booked, or if you park a different vehicle to the one on your booking, you will be charged the turn up and pay rate for that car park for the duration of your parking. In addition, the terms of section 3 of these terms will apply.

2.8 When you enter and exit the car park, it is important that you follow the instructions you receive in your booking confirmation. Please be aware that our car parks use a number plate recognition service and as such if your number plate is not recognised or is not consistent with the number plate for which you have booked, you may be charged the full turn up and pay rate for your stay.

2.9 Where the booking made through our website is stated to be flexible, then the booking can be cancelled or amended any time up to 12 hours before your booked entry time (or such other period as may be specified in the booking) – to do so, please visit prebook.londonsouthendairport.com and click on ‘Manage Booking’. You should note that the price payable for additional time will be calculated at the rates applicable at the time of amendment and so may be more than the rate paid at the time of the original booking. Amendments may be subject to an administration charge, which will be shown on the website prior to you confirming the amendment.

2.10 Bookings made through our website which are stated to be non-flexible or fixed (or otherwise state that they cannot be amended or cancelled) cannot be amended or cancelled. Please note that whether you have a right to cancel or amend a booking made via a third party will depend on the terms and conditions of the third party and not these terms (which may mean that you cannot amend or cancel the booking).

2.11 If you made your booking via a third party, please contact the third party to discuss amending or cancelling your booking.

2.12 Parking can only be pre-booked up to the time before your entry time specified on our website.

2.13 We reserve the right to amend your booking to another car park at the airport for any reason. Where we do so, we will try to book you into another car park a comparable (or lesser) distance from the terminal.

2.14 If an event beyond our reasonable control occurs such as an emergency, war, terrorist threat, natural disaster or extreme weather conditions, we may have to cancel or amend your booking, but if we cancel your booking, you will get a full refund.

2.15 If you have paid to use a premium parking service in any car park, we shall endeavour to ensure that this is available to you upon arrival, but cannot guarantee availability of the relevant facilities. Should the premium service not be available, we shall refund to you the difference between the cost of the premium service and the standard rate for the relevant car park for the time during which your vehicle is within it.

3. Turn up and pay

3.1 We do not guarantee that there will be any space available in our car parks if you decide to turn up and pay.

3.2 Your ticket does not entitle you, unless otherwise specified, to park in a specific space in the car park or to priority over other customers.

3.3 The rate payable for parking is shown on our website and at the entrance to the car park. Prices are subject to change and the you rate pay for your parking is the rate shown at the entrance to the car park at the time of your arrival (and in the event of any discrepancy between the rate shown on our website and that shown at the entrance to the car park, the rate shown at the entrance to the car park shall apply).

3.4 If you are issued with a car parking ticket on entry to the car park, please retain this in a safe place as you may need it to exit. If you cannot produce your ticket on exit from the car park, you will be charged at the full standard rate for the period that your vehicle has been in the car park. The duration of the vehicle’s stay within the car park will in such circumstances be finally determined by us. Lost tickets will also incur an administration charge.

4. Car park rules

4.1 You may only use our car parks to park your vehicle and not for any other purpose (such as cleaning, repair, certain business activities or to stay or sleep in).

4.2 You must drive carefully and responsibly in the car park. You must comply with all directional and other signage/instructions when in the car park.

4.3 When you have parked your vehicle, it is your responsibility to: lock your vehicle securely; fully close all windows of your vehicle; apply your handbrake properly; engage any steering lock, alarm or immobiliser you have; not leave any animal or person within your vehicle; and minimise the level of possessions left in the vehicle and ensure that any such possessions are placed in a locked boot or glove box and are not on display.

4.4 You must park your vehicle within a marked parking bay. You may only use a parking bay designated for a specific purpose where you are entitled to do so (e.g. you may only a disabled parking bay if you display a valid appropriate disability badge). Parking outside a marked parking pay or parking in a parking bay designated for a specific purpose where you are not entitled to do so, will entitle us to take any of the steps set out in paragraph ‎4.7.

4.5 If your vehicle is too long or too wide to occupy a single parking bay then (in addition to any of our rights set out in paragraph ‎4.7) we may charge you for occupying an additional parking bay (or bays) at the then current rates for that car park. If your vehicle is towing a trailer, caravan or any other form of towed vehicle, then that trailer, caravan or other towed vehicle will be charged as a separate additional vehicle at the then current rates for that car park.

4.6 In using the car park, you agree to abide by any additional terms that may be displayed in or around the car park. These may include, but are not limited to, terms regarding permissions to be in the car park and penalties for parking or stopping in prohibited places.

Click here to view our ‘Red Route’ signage, with reference to ‘No Stopping’ and a £100 charge if you stop, payable within 28 days of the Notice issue date. Vehicle keeper details may be requested from the DVLA.

4.7 We reserve the right to move any vehicle within or outside the car park to the extent that we deem necessary to carry out the safe and efficient management of the car park or where the car park (or part thereof) is closed permanently or temporarily or has to be evacuated in cases of emergency. If your vehicle is parked in a manner which (in our reasonable opinion) is unsafe, is outside of a designated parking space, impedes the free flow of traffic in and around the car park or is in breach of any restriction marked on signage or on the ground in the car park (or otherwise brought to your attention), we may:

(a) cause your vehicle to be removed without notice, and you will be responsible for the costs of such removal and recovery;

(b) immobilise (whether by clamping or otherwise) your vehicle, and you will be responsible for the costs of such immobilisation and the subsequent release; and/or

(c) issue a parking charge notice to you for such amount as may be published at the car park from time to time in respect of the relevant breach.

4.8 Any reports of loss, damage or injury while you are parked in or using one of our car parks should be made to us (and, if appropriate, the police) before leaving the car park.

4.9 If your vehicle is parked in our car park for more than 30 days after the end of your booking time (in the case of pre-booked parking) or more than 30 days after you arrived without a booking, we will consider your vehicle to have been abandoned. In these circumstances, we will give you 30 days’ notice, sent to the address provided at the time of booking or to the address registered for your vehicle. If you have not removed your vehicle and paid our parking charges within the 30 days, we shall be entitled to remove the vehicle from the car park without further notice to you and have it stored by a third party recovery service. If the vehicle has not been collected from that third party recovery service within 30 days of being removed then we have the right to have the vehicle destroyed or otherwise disposed of without further notice to you. The costs of removal, storage and destruction, together with any unpaid parking charges (including charges at the car park’s standard rate for the days in which the car has been in the car park after the end of your booking time or after the time of arrival without a booking time) will remain payable by you. These rights are in addition to any other legal rights we may have to deal with an abandoned vehicle.

4.10 In addition to these terms, our parking enforcement operator (VCS Control Services Limited) also has terms and conditions, which apply once you have entered a car park or roads at the airport. These relate to the requirements for vehicles parking in our car parks, and how such requirements are enforced if not met. Their terms and conditions are located at the entrance of the airport and within its grounds. If you are not prepared to comply with their terms and conditions, then please do not enter the car park or roads.

4.11 If you damage another vehicle you must report the matter to us giving the registration numbers of both vehicles. You must also notify the owner of the other vehicle by leaving a note on the windscreen of their vehicle providing your vehicle and contact details and any other details that are relevant to the incident.

4.12 If you damage any equipment in the car park, or any part of the car park itself, you must report the matter to us. You will be liable for any damage you cause to any equipment in the car park or any part of the car park itself.

4.13 We may hold and refuse to allow a vehicle to exit the car park until all charges due in accordance with these terms have been paid in full.

5. Our liability to you

5.1 We do not accept any liability for any delay or missed flights which are caused by delays in accessing a car park, finding a parking space in the car park, unusual volumes of traffic, road works or accidents, mechanical breakdown or failure, adverse weather conditions or staff shortages (howsoever caused). You must allow sufficient time to find a parking space and to get from the car park to the terminal building. Transfer times shown on our website are estimates only.

5.2 If your car is damaged or stolen due to our negligence then our liability to you is restricted to the cost of such damage or theft, up to a maximum of £50,000. If a third party causes damage to your vehicle, we will provide some assistance but any resolution will be a matter between you and the third party.

5.3 While we use reasonable endeavours to ensure that the car parks are secure, we do not guarantee that they are a secure environment as they are open to the general public. Therefore, we do not accept liability for damage to your vehicle (whether caused accidentally or by way of vandalism) or for theft of or from your vehicle, while the vehicle is in the car park, unless caused by our negligence, and then only to the extent that our negligence has caused or contributed to the damage or theft. Accordingly, you park in our car park at your own risk.

5.4 While we may use CCTV cameras in an around our car parks, they are used to assist in the proper running of the car park and the airport. We do not make any representation as to the extent of coverage provided by the cameras and no guarantee is given as to the security of your vehicle in car parks where CCTV is installed.

6. Claims and complaints

6.1 If your vehicle sustains damage while in the car park or if you lose your vehicle or any of your possessions from your vehicle while it is in the car park, you should:

(a) immediately either inform a member of our staff at the car park or contact our staff at the control room for the car park using the intercom system or otherwise notify our Customer Services Team here;

(b) in the case of theft, immediately inform the police; and

(c) notify your insurers promptly.

6.2 If you consider that you have a claim against us you must write to our Customer Services Team within seventy-two (72) hours of discovery of the loss, damage or theft giving full details of the occurrence. Before submitting a claim, we ask that you satisfy yourself that the subject matter of your claim lies within the areas of our responsibility set out in these terms.

2.2 To place a booking for passage through the fast-track security lanes you will need to complete the online booking process, providing all requested details and making payment.

2.4 Your booking is valid only for the dates and times confirmed in the online booking process and set out in your booking confirmation. The date of the contract is the date of confirmation of the booking by email.

2.5 Bookings must be made at least 12 hours prior to your arrival time. All fast-track bookings are subject to availability and we reserve the right to withdraw availability at our entire discretion for a given date and/or time.

2.6 You must not resell or transfer any booking (in whole or in part).

2.7 The price you pay is the price accepted and confirmed to you during the online booking process or phone process. All prices are in pounds sterling and include Value Added Tax and all applicable taxes.

2.8 The booking is valid for a single passage through the fast-track security lane for the date you have booked. Your booking must cover the number of people in your travelling party that wish to use the fast-track security service. If your booking is for less than the number of people in your travelling party, then only the number of people specified in the booking can access the fast-track security service (and the other members of your party will have to use the general security lanes).

A non-exhaustive list of such events includes war or threat of war, riots, civil strife, terrorist threats or activity, industrial disputes, natural and nuclear disasters, fire, adverse weather conditions, government regulations, crown instruction, closure or congestion of airports, and/or cancellation or changes of schedules by airlines.

4.8 We only take bookings for the fast-track security lane for private use. You agree not to use any booking for any commercial, business or resale purposes, and we have no liability to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity.

Fast Track Security Conditions of Use:

5.1 You must bring confirmation of your booking with you (either printed or on a mobile device) in order to access the service. If you do not bring confirmation with you, you will not be able to use the service and will have to use the general security lanes. This is because our security team has no access to your booking details and cannot verify a purchase without the booking confirmation.

5.2 The fast-track security lane allows you to enter a separate channel into the security screening area. Once you have entered the security search area via the fast-track security lane, you will be subject to the same rigorous security checks that all passengers must undergo. The same restrictions apply to items prohibited in your hand luggage and the size and type of liquids you are allowed to carry.

5.3 We do not guarantee the availability of the fast-track security lane, a maximum or minimum queue length or time, or that the fast-track queue time will be less than the standard lanes. Regardless of whether you purchase fast track security, all passengers are subject to the same security procedures and regulations, and we therefore recommend that you allow enough time for the standard security process and x-ray screening.

5.4 We shall not be responsible for any passengers who miss their flight because they did not allow enough time to go through the check-in and security process.

5.5 Use of the fast-track security service does not guarantee entry to the departure lounge. All applicable security procedures, rules and regulations apply to their full extent and such access will be governed strictly in accordance therewith.

5.6 We are only supplying you with the fast-track services under the contract and will not be responsible for any costs, compensation costs or expenses relating to any flights or other services that you may have arranged. You are responsible for ensuring that you allow sufficient time for car parking, transfer to terminal, airport procedures (including but not limited to checking–in and security) and any subsequent flight/travel arrangements.

5.7 We, and our servants or agents, do not accept liability for: (a) any indirect or consequential loss; or (b) any loss of profit, loss of enjoyment, loss of revenue, loss of data, or loss of earnings.

5.8 We will act with reasonable skill and care when allowing access to the fast-track security lane. Nothing in these terms and conditions limits our liability in the case of death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or in the case of fraud.

5.9 We, and employees and agents, reserve the right to refuse admittance to the Fast track security lane.

5.10 All personal data that is collected as part of the booking process is collected, stored and processed in accordance with our privacy policy.
